Economy or SUV? Pick the right class in three questions

Don't pay for more than you need, and don't settle for less.

Choosing, 3 min read

Most people choose a class by price and regret it when the boot won't close. Three questions are enough.

How many people, how many bags?

Two people with cabin bags: economy. Three or four people, or two large suitcases: compact or midsize. Five people, luggage and a pushchair: an SUV, or a van for bigger families. Every class page lists seats and bags.

Where will you drive?

In the narrow streets of the old city a small car is gold: it parks, it turns, it fits. For hours on the motorway, a midsize's wider seats and an SUV's higher position halve the tiredness. If Uludağ or Kartepe is in your winter plan, take the SUV.

Manual or automatic?

Istanbul is a stop-and-go city: an automatic saves your left leg and your temper. A manual costs less and makes no difference out of town. Undecided? Mostly city, take the automatic; mostly open road, either.

You book a class, the model is confirmed at handover

The site says "Volkswagen Golf or similar" because the whole industry works that way: a car of the same class and equipment is guaranteed. The seats, the gearbox and the boot don't change.
